Watermed is a South African company that originally developed ultra-pure water systems for medical and specialised applications. Today, the company applies this same advanced water-treatment expertise across both drinking water and agricultural use cases.

Watermed is supported by the South African Department of Science and Innovation and is a finalist in the United Nations Global Cleantech Innovation Programme. The company is also part of the Aquaterra consortium, which works with local authorities to clean contaminated water for use in community-owned hydroponic farming initiatives.

The company’s flagship technology underpins two focused product brands:

SupaO² is designed for potable drinking water and water-based businesses. Developed over years of research, it uses a unique treatment process that filters and sterilises water while enriching it with dissolved oxygen, delivering clean, mineral-rich water without the waste associated with traditional systems.

OxyGrow applies the same core oxygen-enrichment technology specifically for agriculture and hydroponics. By increasing dissolved oxygen levels in irrigation water, OxyGrow supports stronger root systems, improved nutrient uptake, and healthier plant growth — helping farmers grow better crops using water more efficiently.
